There are some places you visit once and never quite leave. Nireekshana – SMF Nireekshana, a school for differently-abled children here in Bangalore – is one of those places for us. Every time we’ve walked through their doors, we’ve walked away changed. The warmth, the resilience, the sheer joy in that space is something that stays with you long after you’ve said your goodbyes.
So when we had the opportunity to go beyond our visits and do something tangibly meaningful for Nireekshana, we didn’t hesitate.
A Campaign Born From the Heart
Over December and January, as part of our Open Hands project, we ran a campaign to raise funds to buy groceries for Nireekshana. The idea was simple: everyday essentials – the kind that keep a kitchen running, that keep children fed – can make an enormous difference to a school like this. No act of giving is too small when it goes towards nourishing someone who needs it.
And you showed up.
Because of the generosity of our wonderful community, we were able to stock Nireekshana’s kitchen with rice, oil, biscuits, and provisions – the building blocks of meals, the quiet fuel behind every busy, beautiful day at the school.
What Open Hands Is All About
The Open Hands project is our way of meeting practical, tangible needs — of showing up not just with smiles and songs (though we love those too!), but with the real, everyday things that make a difference. It’s love made practical. It’s kindness with its sleeves rolled up.
Nireekshana is the kind of place that reminds you why we do what we do at Little More Love. The children there — their spirit, their courage, their absolute refusal to be defined by anything other than their joy — are the reason this movement exists.
This Is Just the Beginning
We want to keep doing this. We want to keep showing up — in every way we can — for the communities and people who have opened their hearts to us.
And we can only do that with you.
