Some places just feel like home.
This July, the Little More Love team returned to SMF Nireekshana – a school for differently-abled children in Bangalore that holds a very special place in our hearts. Every visit reminds us of why we do this. Every smile, every voice, every moment of connection reaffirms that love, when given freely, always finds a way.
Songs, Paint, and Earbuds
We came with songs and a simple art activity — and left with full hearts.
The kids sang with us, voices rising and filling the room with something that can only be described as pure. And then we got our hands (and earbuds!) colourful.
Here’s what we did: we handed out earbuds, set out paint, and together — children and volunteers side by side – we dipped, dotted, and pressed our way into creating trees on paper. Each little earbud became a brush. Each dot of colour became a leaf. By the end, we had a forest’s worth of artwork, every piece as unique and wonderful as the child who made it.
There is something deeply moving about creating something beautiful together. Art has a way of dissolving barriers, of saying what words sometimes can’t. Watching the kids lose themselves in colour and creativity — that’s a moment we’ll carry with us for a long time.
There’s More We Want to Do
Our relationship with Nireekshana goes beyond visits. Earlier this year, through our Open Hands project, we raised funds to stock their kitchen with rice, oil, biscuits, and provisions — because love shows up in practical ways too.
And we want to do it again.
We are currently working towards collecting groceries for Nireekshana, to make sure the children there are nourished and cared for in every way we can manage. It’s a small thing, maybe. But for a school running on goodwill and dedication, it means the world.
