Old News is Good

November 5, 2016

October means different things to us – diwali, lights, rains (Bangalore is beautifully unpredictable) and presents! It also means that Daan Ustav is here!

The Joy of Giving Week, a week – long celebration of sharing and kindness, is conducted every year during the first week of October. This year, the concept underwent a make – over – it is now the Daan Ustav! We think this new name perfectly embodies what the Joy of Giving Week stands for – a coming together of diverse people for the common good of spreading happiness to those who most need it, through generosity and kindness.

Last year, Little More Love organized Gift Thy Knowledge, a book donation drive, as part of this wonderful week. This year, we decided to use the all – too – familiar concept of newspaper collection!

Old News Is Good

Old News Is Good was a newspaper collection drive, as part of the Daan Utsav 2014 (Joy of Giving Week) in order to raise funds for Kashmir flood victims.

We must say, the response was overwhelming! We found ourselves driving all across the city, hauling kilograms of newspaper in our LML-Mobiles (not really – they were cars belonging to some of us who were nice enough to let the rest abuse their vehicles)!

We thank each and everyone of you who generously contributed to this cause. Without your support, this drive would not be possible! Your generosity, kindness and spirit of giving truly touched us, and we’re sure that it meant a great deal to those flood victims who received your love and aid.

“Goodness is about character – integrity, honesty, kindness, generosity, moral courage, and the like. More than anything else, it is about how we treat other people.”
– Dennis Prager
