“Chase whatever it is that fills your heart with music and make sure it’s a beat you can dance too”
On 12th September we went to Sparsh Teen Challenge, Pune.
There are around 30 children between the age of 7 and 15 at Sparsh. Timothy Sparsh and wife welcomed all these kids from the red light area with open arms and gave them something most wouldn’t be able too – a home filled with joy and immeasurable love.
With their different background, different countries, these beautiful ones have this one thing in common, they love with complete abandon.
It’s a blessing to be around them and just see their light shine so brightly, to see them overcome and take strides few of us can imagine.
We had the honor of organizing a dance workshop for these treasured ones and had a delightful time.
There is such a sweet deep satisfaction in letting yourself express emotions and feelings without holding back and these and so many other meaningful lessons were taught to us by Renelle Snelleksz, a powerhouse dancer and teacher and one who embodies love in everything she does.
She took the kids through channeling their emotions through their bodies and completely surrendering to the process and letting them be fueled by joy in letting go like they’ve never experienced before and the kids couldn’t get enough of it or her (neither could we).
Dance has the power of completely changing someone’s day by shifting their mindset. These kids danced with so much enthusiasm and gusto that you couldn’t stray your eyes away from them. From dancing with balloons and with each other and letting their bodies speak with actions and not words, it truly was a magical time to watch their joy spread the room.
So thankful that we get to push the boundaries for sharing the love with the people of this world. And just remind them to never count themselves out and that we will never give up on them. They are so worth it. We never want to miss the chance to be a part of a person’s reason to smile and feel loved.
“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain”
