Doesn’t it seem as though Little More Love is all about gifting? Gift A Pint and now Gift Thy Knowledge? Well, you’re right. We are all about gifting. We believe in sharing that what makes us happy. This event was one such initiative that let us share our treasure troves of knowledge – our books – with those who needed it more.
As part of the Joy of Giving Week that occurs every year from 2nd to 8th October, Little More Love organized Gift Thy Knowledge, a book donation drive, in 2013. We placed donation boxes in colleges like BMSCE, DSCE and MSRIT and in the Mantri Greens Apartments.
Word spread like wildfire and by the end of the week we managed to collect 2865 books! These books were donated to Bal Utsav to help set up a library for underprivileged children. A huge ‘thank you’ to all who donated and helped make this possible!
Donating your old books leaves you in a feel-good mood. This is because only you know how important that book was to you and now, that book will bring joy to someone else. So the next time you find a pile of old, usable and legible books and you feel like throwing them away or selling them to the raddi-walla, pause and reconsider. By donating these page-fulls of delight to the less fortunate, you just might be educating them and helping them become the next Marie Curie or Albert Einstein, or whatever they are destined to be.
